These guys are one of the best out there for providing unique and innovative solutions to there clients.. They’ve even helped me out. They also have Billy Cripe leading the way on E2.0.

Adopted into Oracle – I always get so jealous of this team.. They get to do what I consider to be the fun stuff and branch out to create unique innovative apps / tools with a great UI. In the last year most of the blogging has been on mobile devices and I believe these guys are really pushing apps to the limit and I’m sure 2011 will be there year to impress us all.

So a last week the Mozilla team setup a geek gamer browser tech event down in London.
Although I was also in London I could not make it due to Oracle commitments :( but for all those of you out there who also missed the presentation go check them out here::

It looks like the SimDraz engine is doing all the right things, I`m happy to say..
I was hoping to enter the engine in the mozilla challenge but it is still a long way off from release

It was a bit dissapointing to see Paul Bakaus did not make the event and discuss – he still in my opinion and from the work I`ve seen him and his team do would consider them to be one of the leaders in future html 5 game releases..

Got check them out and get them added to your feed.

I`ve never had any experience with this team but the posts do look good – so will be keeping a close eye on them to see what useful info they release!

No updates.. on the SimDraz Engine the team has been exceptionally busy these past couple of month so no real updates.. :(

But we are on the case; we are currently investigating improved transport method for out websocket/ajax client server communication currently we are using gzipped JSON but after a recent discovery looks like we will be moving towards BiSON – BiSON saves us between 20 to 45 percent of size when compared to JSON. With the average saving being around one third. This means faster timings and interaction for you and less bandwidth requirement so its a win win situation.. There are a few issues with BiSON but nothing we cant currently work around!..

Its all looking good though..

For those who want to investigate BiSON more for data transfer check out this links -

Ok so last year I blogged about Oracle releasing a .Net SiteEnterprise 2.0 TV .. Why they did it, I dont know?
You could produce the same site with Oracle Technology like ADF; or UCM Site Studio etc but who cares..

They have gone and done it again?
I now believe Oracle to have a secret Microsoft development team hidden away like a small parasite..

Oracle purchased Stellents Content Management system a good couple years ago now..
And following the acquisition they converted and moved there entire web internal and external environments onto the newly branded Oracle UCM app.
Great move and I believe end of this year the whole web environment would have been completely transformed..

So please tell me why are you still producing these .Net sites?
BTW.. I love the screencast of the site at the Oracle offices – but unfortunately I couldn’t say much when I saw the site for the first time today.. doesn’t look as good on my laptop :( ..

This isn’t an attack on .Net not at all I love the Visual Studio environment and it has come along so much since the early days when I moved from asp vbscript to the first edition of .Net – that couldn’t even handle XHTML doc type in it’s infancy.. But it has just gone from strength to strength in my eyes although I don’t get to do much if any .Net C# scripting these days..

.. .. I just can’t seem to connect the dots… Ok; maybe you outsourced it but why outsource it to a company who is developing with rival technology?

ok; skip the technology geeky stuff.. I have to say I quite like the concept.. Ask the experts and can’t wait to find a question to put the experts on the spot and see if they can come up with a great answer.
I love the fact they are integrating twitter; linkedin; pointing to blogs giving access to vital resources.. .. wait a sec.. they have redeveloped Spaces in .Net mini social updating portlets and ucm integration concept..!

ok.. thats my rant of the year done..

Next some positive steps Oracle guides.. Maybe also show off some android – iphone things I`ve been playing with on Appcelerator….

Here Here you go simple quick Canvas clock::

Your browser does not support the canvas tagbbcclock

Download the JS source
And add your canvas tag before the script..

For ADF -

<!-- Canvas Clock -->
 <f:verbatim>
	<canvas id="canvas" width="60" height="60"></canvas>
</f:verbatim>
<trh:script source="/js/bs.canvas.js"></trh:script>
<!-- xCanvas Clock -->

or better –
Instead of the trinidad tag use adf:

<af:resource type="javascript" source="/js/bs.canvas.js"/>

Sometimes you`ll want to add custom tag like <canvas> which isn’t generated with ADF; or if it is – please tell me :)

The simple way I have overcome this when working with Spaces templates is to wrap the JSF f:verbatim tag around the html I want to output.

<f:verbatim>
<canvas id=”canvas” width=”60″ height=”60″></canvas>
</f:verbatim>

From here I can use Javascript to generate a BBC styled clock release in my next post..

This is probably quite old now for some of you; but my head has been racing with ideas and thinking new ways to navigate Spaces; find content quickly and make the User Experience more fun.
Often I`ll scrawl through sites for ideas and recently I found one that stood out from the rest -  a Facebook Facelift project developed by Barton Smith.

It’s a shame facebook weren’t interested in this UIX approach; check out the video..
But this would be an interesting UIX approach for Spaces collaboration – I’m actually drawing up a few concepts and story boards based on a similar type of interactivity for a few Spaces design projects I’m working on at the moment.

I can see it all working and with a bit on WebSocket magic this would be awesome for Spaces.. But the development time for this type of interesting project is more effort than I am willing to put in over my spare time..
Sometimes though I wish Oracle would put aside some money for their UI and setup a great team to become leaders with new creative methods of interaction – but the closest thing I have seen to real creative flair are from The AppsLab Team and the guys who work on the Oracle Cloud Office -
