Adopted into Oracle – I always get so jealous of this team.. They get to do what I consider to be the fun stuff and branch out to create unique innovative apps / tools with a great UI. In the last year most of the blogging has been on mobile devices and I believe these guys are really pushing apps to the limit and I’m sure 2011 will be there year to impress us all.

Right so excuse this old post – I meant to release it back in 2009/05/31 but work got the better of me and not its time to catch up with the blog posts..
Ok, so a couple months ago I was talking about Bespin (Mozilla`s code collaboration RIA) and I guess, I kinda compared this with Aptana/eclipse saying it was going to kill it.. But after using it I must admit for the moment I`v changed my mind.. Eclipse and also aptana still rocks no other system comes close for me… But also Bespin is still in early development, so who knows? JDeveloper 11g anyone?
So, why am I psyched about Google Wave.. OMG just watch the presentation!! I mean, I didn`t even know with gears you could do a drag/drop upload into a webbrowser – You know whats going through my head now… Digaset/UCM drag drop files into folders on the digaset desktop browser like webdav but all through the browser (my original plan was java applet drag and drop onto that within a browse but now.. GWT)!!?! Yes, that is going to absolutly rock! (one catch you need GWT but hey Digaset desktop UCM offline release is planned for November 09 launch…) – (Saying that html 5 works in FF3.5 so we could implement DD – check this demo out – http://decafbad.com/blog/2009/07/15/html5-drag-and-drop)
Collaboration and discussions – I know I`m going to be ripping my hair out with this one..
Do I go with Oracle Presence… or Wave..
Wave is so awesome and free and open source and as Digaset will be releasing a mini content management system – for those who dont have the money to spend on Oracle I feel it will have to be Wave integration with use later looking into Presence. Because then we get Jdev collaboration and more unity, but you`ll just have to wait and see..
Update — Yes we are going with Wave..
Because of this Digaset Desktop will be delayed… We want to release this with the Wave option.
I`m back from an amazing week in Sunny Sharm, Egypt.
And now onto the final bug fixing phase and testing of the Digaset Desktop component – RIA for Oracle UCM.
Also some of you will be glad to know the first release will also support the following languages:- English, French, Romanian, Slovenian, Italian and Portuguese.
Digaset Desktop also recieved it’s first intro over at Fusion ECM rating it as one of the top 10 UCM components and I believe although I was not there also got a mention at the Oracle Collaborate 09 conference!

Well I almost had a heart attack today, when I found out what Microsoft had released.. “Live Mesh”
From the reviews and info I found, I thought they had developed a clone of the Digaset Software Suite that Landon and I have been developing over the last 6 months…
Fortunately its not! But it does have a few similarities.. Go check it out, its pretty interesting.
You can view an interview with the developers at on10.net
Or check out the Live Mesh Technical Preview..
It looks like Digasets applications, will soon be ported onto Adobe AIR..Â
I`v been secretly working with AIR; looking into the possibilities of using it with the Digaset application suit and I`m happy to say that I have managed to port the front end of one of our systems.
From the initial tests the system works far better on air than any browser even better than Opera!!
In theory this means we can package our applications into air and give our clients the choice of using their webbrowser or installing the air application, giving them more stability and better performance, plus it will also help us to decrease our bandwidth usage!..

The next wallpaper for Digaset has been released!!
Get it whilst its hot!!
I trust you know how to resize an image ![]()
Here is the original 1920×1200
And tweaked the colours just slightly for Ian -
Well its the end to another great year!
And I`m really looking forward to 2008 and seeing Digaset progress and being used.
Both Landon and I will be working harder than ever this year, with a hopeful beta launch date set for April/May.
Digaset Preview
As it is the start of the new year, I feel it is only appropriate to show you guys the start of Digaset with our concept login screen

Well; Landon and I are still exceptionally busy, as you can see by the lack of updates going on from within our blogs.
I am happy to say the architecture and design of the userinterface are just about there. I see about another month of work left to do and probably an extra month to tidy it all up. Although maybe in February we will upload a screencast or at least show you some pictures of the progress we have made..
Work on our engine, will begin early January and will be written in Ruby on Rails, I don`t see most of this being complete until April, May time though.
What have I been upto?
Well mostly working on our frontend and our framework, but I have also been running though Douglas Crockford`s javascript website, getting to grips with some of his programing techniques and running through some of his javascript lectures, which I would highly recommend to anyone!
I have also been reading through my Action Script 3 and flex 2 books and can`t wait to begin working on some of the interactive applications that I am going to be developing as part of the suite of products that we will be providing.
Its all looking very exciting and from my point of view, everything is coming together nicely and yes there have been some problems and hold ups, but nothing major to stop us.
